External Vacuum Sealer Reviews

Small, easy-to-use and a definite fan favorite among home users, an external vacuum sealer is ideally what anyone really needs in a typical home kitchen. They are versatile and unlike chamber variants, quite capable of liquid sealing as well as canister sealing – well almost all models are at least.

Whether you want to stock up on bulk groceries, marinade in advance for an upcoming party, can and jar your fresh produce or pickles, an external sealer has got your back. In fact, spend a little higher and you can use generic bags for household items.

Read our exclusive section, “You Never Thought Possible” to learn all the prospects associated with vacuum sealing and how you can use a consumer grade inexpensive external vacuum sealer in ways you never imagined possible.

Your Checklist When Buying An External Vacuum Sealer

A vacuum sealer is just a slab of nothingness if it cannot create a strong vacuum. Some sealers take longer to achieve lower pressure marks but are quite accurate, while others take little time but aren’t so precise. All external sealers are more than capable of creating absolute vacuum but how well is the suction regulated? This is what you must see as varying settings are necessary based on sealing needs.
Can you use generic bags? What about sealing liquids or even jars and canisters? Do you even need these features? Well if your reason for purchasing a vacuum sealer is to try sous vide cooking then yes you do need a good sealer with more than the average capabilities because depending on the dish you plan on preparing in a sous vide cooker, the seal and strength of vacuum will vary.
An external vacuum sealer requires you to feed the bag opening into a wide mouth that then immediately clamps down to begin the sealing process. The size of the mouth plays an important role in deciding just how large you can go with your bags. Almost all external vacuum sealers will handle your average sized generic bags but not all can go large.
The heat seal built into the mouth of the vacuum sealer is what comes into play in determining the quality of the seal. With a substandard heat-seal, you won’t just damage and waste more bags than necessary but also significantly reduce the working life of a vacuum sealer. So, don’t be a miser and go real cheap with external sealers.
I can only give you an idea of the generic warranty cover from each brand and on each model unless I have personally used and reverted back to the manufacturer for honoring their warranty covers. So, do check the warranty in detail before buying any external sealer you narrow down on.
